A leading flexible-polymer and carton-packaging manufacturer with a production site in the CIS region.
Location: CISA broad set of safety and production-discipline checks was brought into one video analytics workflow, including context-sensitive checks using a multimodal language model.
The customer’s task
The packaging plant needed to monitor site-specific safety requirements across people, vehicles, materials and production areas. Separate object detections were insufficient: the system had to account for normal work routines and distinguish them from potentially unsafe situations.
Personnel safety scenarios
The deployed scenarios cover helmets and bump caps, high-visibility vests, gloves, protective glasses and safety harnesses. Additional checks identify people in hazardous zones, smoke or fire, a motionless person and mobile-phone use.
The project also includes requirements relating to loose hair, protective sleeve covers and unfastened workwear. These checks reflect the operating rules of this particular production site.
Movement, forklifts and industrial doors
Video analytics checks personnel movement routes and use of handrails, monitors forklift speed and observes the state of industrial doors. One scenario identifies a door left open beyond the permitted time when no employees are passing through it.
People, carts, stackers, forklifts and large objects are distinguished so that routine movement of a worker with a trolley or load can be interpreted in its operational context.
Multimodal analysis of materials and access routes
A multimodal language model was configured to assess whether pallets, loads and materials were positioned within the marked areas. It also checks for foreign objects in passageways and cluttered work zones.
The purpose of this layer is to evaluate the scene against a rule, including the relationship between people, objects and marked areas, rather than simply count objects.
Implementation outcome
The completed deployment records potential violations and passes events to responsible specialists. It establishes a common digital workflow for industrial safety and production discipline, with scope to add further scenarios.
The source describes plans to apply the experience at additional production sites. These plans are separate from the completed deployment; no quantified reduction in injuries or operating costs is claimed here.
