Why remote lifting work is difficult to supervise
Loading, unloading and construction operations at remote facilities are difficult to monitor continuously through an inspector’s physical presence alone. The project was intended to provide ongoing remote visibility and support intervention during an unsafe situation.
The customer also needed centralised incident information and retained video evidence, so that review did not depend on reconstructing events after the fact.
What the system observes
The hardware and software solution is installed around the gantry-crane operating area. It detects the load, rigging on the load and hook, and people under the crane structure, beneath a suspended load or close to it.
The system also checks helmets and high-visibility vests. Hazardous zones are calculated relative to the actual position of the crane structure and moving load, allowing the monitored area to change during an operation.
Connecting the observation to a response
An unsafe situation can generate notifications to the crane operator’s cabin and the central control room. Photographs and video clips are retained with the incident data, supporting remote review and investigation.
A central database and consolidated statistics make it possible to analyse incidents over a selected period instead of treating each notification as an isolated message.
Documented scope
The project material describes the delivered detection and notification functions but does not provide a quantified accident-reduction result or a clearly dated commissioning milestone. It is presented here as implementation experience without asserting a wider production rollout.
The main technical feature is the combination of load and rigging detection, PPE checks, dynamic zones and remote notification within one operating scenario.
