SCENARIOS FOR OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY

Scenarios

Personnel Control

  • Monitoring the use of PPE and compliance with industrial safety requirements
  • Monitoring the presence of personnel at workplaces and in key areas
  • Monitoring abnormal behavior and falls to enable rapid incident response
  • Monitoring hazardous zones to prevent unauthorized access and regulatory violations
Personnel Control

Pipe Measurement Automation

  • Automatic measurement accuracy control with less than 0.5% error, stable in any weather
  • Measurement monitoring without influence of the human factor
  • Automatic data synchronization and support for various scenarios, interactive dashboard
  • Contractor performance monitoring, reducing non-productive time on site

Fuel Station Process Control

  • Fuel reception and dispensing control, reducing theft cases and improving labor discipline
  • Monitoring of protective gear and PPE, facial recognition and gait identification system
  • Collection of marketing data to analyze customer behavior and increase sales at fuel stations

Maintenance Control

  • Monitoring scheduled maintenance on pumps, winches, hydraulic keys and top drives to reduce equipment failure risk
  • Minimizing unplanned downtime and financial losses through timely detection of violations and deviations from regulations
Maintenance Control

Contractor Supervision

  • Recording contractor non-productive time and equipment downtime
  • Monitoring PPE and workwear, facial recognition and gait identification, compliance with safety regulations by third-party personnel
  • Digital monitoring of third-party workers’ presence and activities on site to verify actual working hours
Contractor Supervision

Are you looking to reduce industrial accidents tenfold?

Saudi Arabia / Gulf

Five drilling rigs.
One monitoring scope.

Personnel presence, PPE checks, top-drive servicing and loading safety for one of the largest oilfield services companies in Saudi Arabia.

Planning a remote deployment?

Match processing and event transfer to the rig’s connectivity, local response needs and operating environment.

Compare deployment options

From drilling to refining: define the operating scope

Drilling and workover

Monitor PPE, pipe-handling activity, access to hazardous areas and lifting operations. Select cameras around the actual rig layout and tasks.

Refineries and process facilities

Combine required protective equipment, hazardous-zone control and inspection-round monitoring. Include maintenance windows in event logic.

Remote sites and limited connectivity

Choose local processing and exchange events, snapshots or selected clips according to the available link. Define local behaviour during a connection outage.

Supervisor response

Attach enough context to the event for a person to review it: location, time, activity and supporting video. Agree escalation and acceptance criteria before scaling.

Detectors for drilling operations

Drilling safety — 21 implemented scenarios

A set of implemented detectors for drilling rigs, covering personnel protection, dynamic hazardous zones, equipment states and operating procedures. Select the required scenarios for the customer’s rig and configure the camera views, zones and triggering conditions.

PPE and chemical handling

  • Missing protective helmet.
  • Missing eye, face or respiratory protection while handling chemicals in the mud-mixing area.
  • Missing protective workwear or exposed skin while handling chemical reagents.

Working at height

  • A person near the edge of the rig floor, taking guardrails and fall protection into account.
  • An unsecured fall-arrest harness on the derrickman.
  • Moving outside the guardrail of the derrickman’s platform or basket.
  • Working at height without an attached fall-arrest harness.

Stairway movement

  • Moving on stairs without the required support or contact points.

Hazardous rig zones

  • Personnel on the rotary table while the top drive moves with the pipe string in the well.
  • Personnel in the hazardous movement zone of the power tong.
  • People on the rotary table during well logging, pressure testing or cementing.
  • People in the hazardous pipe-ramp zone during pipe lifting.

Equipment and operating procedures

  • Servicing or repairing the drawworks while the mechanism is powered.
  • Exceeding the configured speed when raising or lowering the bottom-hole assembly.
  • Removing blowout-prevention equipment before the waiting-on-cement period ends.
  • Servicing the screw conveyor with covers open and the motor running.
  • Personnel on the rig floor while power tongs operate and the pulling cable is under tension.
  • Placing or removing pipe at the derrickman’s platform before the travelling block has fully stopped.

Events requiring response

  • Detection of a person lying down.
  • Detection of signs of a gas, oil or water influx.
  • Detection of fire.

All 21 detectors were delivered in a successful partner pilot using 17 cameras and six loudspeakers.

Oil and gas video analytics for the Middle East

For oil and gas teams in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and the wider Gulf / GCC, start with rig-floor safety, PPE, hazardous zones and well-servicing operations. The Saudi Arabia case documents five drilling rigs; requirements and delivery arrangements for other locations are scoped separately.

Planning your application

How does rig-floor monitoring differ from general CCTV?

Rig scenarios combine visible people and PPE with hazardous zones, equipment states and work sequences. Define the monitored operation and required response for each camera view, then evaluate the configuration on site footage.
