Create a site and camera
In Settings → Sites and cameras, add a site and then a camera beneath it. For an isolated test, use a video-file camera where the release supports it and upload an MP4 sample. Set the camera active, enable analytics and save.
Create a detector preset
In Settings → Presets, add a preset, enable the required detector and configure confidence and minimum object size where applicable. The wiki distinguishes Detection, Event and Violation: primary observation, secondary event record, and secondary violation record with alarm respectively. Alarm behaviour requires a compatible secondary detector and Violation status.
Assign and inspect
Edit the camera, open Detectors and add the preset. Confirm that categories are active and save. Open the camera in the video wall and verify playback and detection overlays.
Configure a test decision rule
The wiki’s quick-start recipe uses an unconditional Record rule at the top of the decision matrix so that test outputs are stored. Use that broad rule only in an isolated test configuration. For operational use, review rule order, conditions, visibility and recipients against the site’s requirements; do not replace existing production rules with a tutorial default.
Review the result
Open the immediate-violation list or violation journal, inspect the evidence and mark the result with the configured review action. Use date, camera, detector and category filters. Available exports may include PDF, XLSX and image archives.
